Winners announced for 2025 Sunshine Fest Logo and Slogan Contest
The Joseph L. Brechner Freedom of Information Project at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications, in partnership with MuckRock, has named the winners of the inaugural Sunshine Fest 2025 Logo and Slogan Contest. Sunshine Fest will honor the 20th anniversary of Sunshine Week, March 16- 22, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
Sandy DeBeer received first place for “Prove It” and will receive a $500 prize.
Ruthel Conchas’ “FOIA: Get your docs” logo and slogan earned second place and a $300 prize. A dozen participants submitted logo designs and slogans that reflect the values of transparency and open government that are at the core of Sunshine Week.
“Let’s keep the creativity flowing and see if we can get even more clever FOI-related symbols,” said Brechner FOI Project Director David Cuillier. “It’s imperative we reach average people to help them understand the importance of public records in their lives.”
Sunshine Fest focuses on solutions to pressing problems in freedom of information across geographic boundaries – local, state, federal and global – including journalists, record custodians, policy makers, historians, librarians, researchers, commercial data providers, and all other constituencies who care about transparency.
